What is clipboard?
Clipboard is a temporary storage area for information that you have copied or moved from one place and plan to use somewhere else. You can select text or graphics and then use cut/copy commands to move your selection to clipboard, where it will be stored until you use paste command to insert it elsewhere. The clipboard is available in most Windows programs.
Why you should erase clipboard
We often use copy/paste commands while working with logins, passwords, credit card numbers and other secure information. But Clipboard information can be easily seen by anyone who can access your computer or by the web sites you visit. Also these data use a lot of memory which will make the computer go slow and lower performance. Delete the clipboard will empty all memory.
How to clear clipboard information
There are different erase history tools that help you clear the clipboard information automatically.
From the command prompt windows you can type the following and it will empty your clipboard.
cmd /c “echo off | clip”
For MAC there is not a specific instruction but we can do a small trick.
Open a new note pad or text document. Press space and drag the mouse. You will be selecting a blank space. Press Command + C and you will have a blank space in clipboard which will remove previous data.
