Youtube History

YouTube, is a website that allows users to upload, download, view and share videos.
Founded in February 2005 by 3 former PayPal employees: (Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jaweb Karim), the online payment company belonging to the eBay group. Immediately, the young company attracted the interest of investors such as the Sequoira venture capital firm.

It all started with a party. That of Chad Hurley and Steve Chen in February of 2005. His video of the party was too long to send by email to his friends.
The idea came out of his imagination: a very large site where anyone could send and watch any video. That was in 2005; today 65,000 new videos are uploaded daily.

It is easy to use and, in addition, free. To see the videos or send them to other people is not necessary to register, but to place them on the page.

YouTube also serves as a promotional showcase.
A proof of this is the pilot episode of the series Nobody's watching, which was canceled by NBC before its release. A year and a half later the pilot appeared on YouTube and received 300,000 visits in 15 days. Now it is being disputed by several networks, including NBC

The technology used by the site is Macromedia Flash (now part of Adobe), but users will not have to worry about converting their creations to that format. YouTube servers take care of that in the process of "uploading" (unpload) the video.
The formats in which the video is sent are: MPEG, AVI, MOV and those used by camcorders and cameras integrated in mobile phones.

Another practical aspect is the possibility of inserting a movie in a web page external to its servers, despite the fact that the file resides physically in them.
This allows bloggers and website creators to have embedded video on their pages.

YouTube hosts a variety of video clips of movies and TV shows, music videos, and home videos (despite the YouTube rules against uploading videos with copyright, this material exists in abundance). And in this sense, YouTube has already had some legal encounters with producers and television networks.

The short history of YouTube records the highest exponential growth that is remembered.
Chad Hurley paid with his credit card the first bill for the broadband connection he needed to launch his online video website. Since then, the demand has been so explosive (100 million monthly visits) that the cost of infrastructure has risen to two million dollars per month. This disbursement could not continue for long, unless there was a way to finance it with advertising revenue. This is where Google comes in, who will buy on October 10, 2006 YouTube for 1,650 million dollars.
As reported, YouTube will maintain its independence from the Google video service.
